The Lake District has an extremely wide range of different styles of fishing, from game fishing of every type to coarse fishing.Game fishing in Windermere includes Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon.

There are also Char in Windermere, traditionally fished by trolling from a rowing boat, with heavily weighted lines to keep the lures near the bottom of the lake where these rare fish live.
Pike are frequently caught in Windermere, as well as in the smaller lakes at Rydal and Grasmere, and in the North Lakes, Bassenthwaite is renowned for its Pike.For those that know where to look, there is Carp fishing in the area also, with
venues such as Ratherheath tarn near Staveley giving large specimens.
For less serious anglers, there are trout farms where you may catch and keep your fish, for example at Hawkshead.
